Golden Boy Fight Night: Diaz vs Perez Predictions

Joseph Diaz (33-4-1) vs. Jesus Antonio Perez (24-5-0)

Kicking off with the main event!

Diaz will be coming into this off of a UD win over Jerry Perez (14-4-1) and before that dropping three decision losses in a row. One to current champ Devin Haney (31-0-0). Perez on the other hand is riding a two fight losing streak, both being decision losses to Brian Norman Jr. (25-0-0) and Alexis Rocha (23-2-0).

In my opinion, this fight is pretty cut and dry in favor of Diaz. He has faced much better opposition over the years, has more overall experience, and is the heavy favorite rightfully in this match. My pick is for Diaz to take this win by decision or a late TKO but I think both are pretty tough here.

Pick: Diaz (Decision: 90%, TKO: 10%)

Ricardo Sandoval (23-2-0) vs. Jayson Mama (19-1-0)

Who’s winning streak will come to an end?

Both of these fighters are coming in riding three fight win streaks. I believe the key to calling this bout are taking a look at their past competition. On Sandoval’s side, his last three opponents have a combined record of (76-17). While Mama’s are (48-59), showing me that Sandoval’s competition has been much higher.

I am taking Sandoval by decision to outbox Mama. Another slight TKO/KO sprinkle doesn’t hurt again either.

Pick: Sandoval (Decision: 90%, TKO: 10%)

Eric Tudor (9-1-0) vs. Luis Caraballo (6-2-1)

Which fighter can move back into the win column?

Tudor is coming off an October 2023 decision loss to Jose Sanchez (14-3-1) but before that going on a nice 9 fight win streak. Caraballo is coming off of a two fight TKO/KO losing streak to Jeovanny Estela (14-0-0) and Rafael Maria De Dios (10-1-0). Before this streak, he was riding 6 fight TKO/KO winning streak.

I think Tudor will take this one by TKO/KO. Getting finished twice in a row in a bad recipe for disaster and especially in the later rounds, I think Eric will take Caraballo out. I’d say a round 6 or 7 TKO/KO.

Pick: Tudor (TKO: 70%, Decision: 30%)

Joshua Garcia  (6-0-0vs. Eric Lozada (1-0-1)

Two young prospects go at it!

I will keep this one short and sweet like I have with the others. Garcia is an undefeated prospect with a 4″ inch height advantage. Lozada has 1 win and 1 draw against the same competition as himself. Both of these guys are really green, so I believe the experience of Garcia will be the deciding factor in determining the winner of this fight.

I am taking Garcia by decision here.

Pick: Garcia (Decision: 100%)

Jorge Chavez  (9-0-0vs. Diuhl Olguin (16-34-7)

A Chavez showcase.

Just looking at the records on these two boxers, you can already get a guess of who will take this one. Olguin is a tough fighter though and most of his losses come by decision. But Chavez is on a two fight finishing streak, both being under 4 rounds, and has finished 7 of his 9 fights. I just feel that the prospect of a finish here for Chavez is too good to pass up.

Lets go Chavez by TKO/KO.

Pick: Chavez (TKO: 80%, Decision: 20%)
